About the project

The goal was to redesign of three distinct sales websites:

• Specialty Retail

• International Sales

• Common Reads

Rather than redesigning three websites individually, we developed a shared platform known as "Books Sales Platform" which featured reusable modules and page templates.

Speciality Retail, International Sales, Common Reads websites

Discovery

Started with stakeholder interviews to gather business insights and then partnered with the marketing team to send out an online survey to 350 users. Alongside the survey, conducted a series of phone interviews with a user pool of sales representatives, book buyers, and marketing managers. My primary goal was to gain a thorough understanding of user needs to form user journeys.

User Journey Maps

Based on the survey results and stakeholder interviews, I created individual user journeys for each user group to represent their needs.

User Types and Needs

1) Specialty Retail Reps: Works with non-traditional book retailers and wholesalers specializing in niches such as gift, or outdoor, apparel.

2) International Sales Reps: Helps book buyers to reach curated book & author information to better understand the selling points of a book.

3) Common Reads Reps: Helps campus committee members of universities and colleges in finding the right books for their first-year experience programs by offering them program resources and book recommendations.

Speciality Retail Website

The primary goal of this site revolved around navigation explorations, due to the extensive array of categories it included.

International Sales Website

Sales representatives lacked access to a well-organized and current list of sell sheets and catalogs to assist their clients effectively. Introduced a catalog landing page, offering practical features such as the ability to download catalogs in multiple formats, apply category filters, and sort by publication date.

Common Reads Website

To provide an engaging book discovery platform, particularly for those looking to discover books tailored for college and community events, the users were empowered to curate book lists and showcase them through a carousel. Additionally, the existing blog experience was redesigned introducing a new feature that seamlessly incorporated book information via SKU.
